Terms of use

Last updated 19 September 2026

By using InTheirShoes you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose. Questions: the person who invited you to InTheirShoes.

What this is, and is not

InTheirShoes is a tool for exploring careers. It gives you questionnaires, simulations and matches based on published instruments and public occupational data (see how it works). It is guidance to help you think, not professional advice, not a prediction of how you will do in any career, and not a decision about what you should study or do.

It is not a clinical or psychological diagnosis, and it must not be used to decide who to hire, admit, promote or reject.

Access

Access is by invitation and can be changed or withdrawn by the site owner. Keep your login to yourself. If you are under 18, use the site with the knowledge and agreement of a parent or guardian.

Using it fairly

  • Answer honestly. The results are only as useful as your answers.
  • Do not try to break, overload or scrape the site, or use another person’s account.
  • Do not put personal details of other people, or anything unlawful or abusive, in your written answers.

Third-party material

The interest questionnaire is the O*NET Interest Profiler from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, used under the CC BY-ND 4.0 licence, and career data comes from the O*NET database (CC BY 4.0). O*NET® is a trademark of USDOL/ETA. USDOL/ETA has not approved or endorsed this site. The personality questionnaire uses public-domain items from the International Personality Item Pool.

No guarantees

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make based on it. Please talk to teachers, counsellors, family and people who do the work before making big choices.

Your data

How we handle it is described in the privacy policy. You can export or delete it from your account page at any time.
